The Center offers a wide range
of advisement services to Baruch College undergraduate students.
The Center's staff is available to assist students in making
important decisions concerning their academic achievement at Baruch. It is the place where students can
obtain answers to a broad range of questions - from degree requirements
to general policies and procedures.
Mission Statement
The Center for Academic Advisement is dedicated to assisting all Baruch undergraduates in taking ownership of their educational experiences. We endeavor to guide the students in making responsible choices towards achieving their educational, career and personal goals from orientation to graduation and beyond. We will do this with professionalism, courtesy and respect.

Declaration of Major:
Consult the Undergraduate Bulletin for a complete listing of majors offered by the College.
Students majoring in the Weissman School or Arts & Sciences and in the School of Public Affairs must declare their major with a faculty advisor in the appropriate department.
60% of the major must be completed at Baruch College. A 'C' (2.0) average in the major courses is required for graduation. < more information >

of Minor:
Freshmen who entered Fall 2001 or afterwards, Transfer students who entered Fall 2003 or afterwards or Re-entry students starting Fall 2003 or afterwards must complete
the Tier 3 minor. <

Probation,
Dismissal and Reinstatement
Students must maintain a certain minimum Grade Point Average
based on the number of credits earned. Students will be placed
on Grade Point Average Probation at the end of the Spring
semester if their cumulative GPA falls below that minimum.
Students who fail to meet the terms of GPA probation will
be dismissed at the end of the Spring semester. Dismissal
from the College is permanent unless a written reinstatement
appeal, made to the Committee on Academic Standing of one
of the College's three schools, is successful. <

Worksheet and
Degree Requirements
The Academic Worksheet provides students with documentation outlining
the courses they must complete in order to meet degree requirements.
It provides a complete breakdown of every credit needed for
graduation, including electives. The Academic Worksheet helps students
plan their selection of courses. We recommend that all undergraduate
students have a worksheet prepared at least once during their
careers at Baruch. <

Total Resignation
(Course Withdrawal)
Courses dropped officially during the first three weeks of
classes of the Fall or Spring semester, or during the first
two weeks of each Summer session do not appear on the student's
transcript. Courses dropped officially during the next seven
weeks appear on the transcript with W (Withdrawal) grades,
which carry no academic penalty. Students who wish to withdraw
from all of their classes must consult the Center for Academic Advisement. <

Students may apply for a credit overload (19-21 credits)
if they meet certain requirements. <

Appeals
If a student wants to request an exception to a school rule
and has special circumstances, he/she may file an appeal.
It is frequently helpful if the student can attach relevant
supporting documentation. <

Orientation
In order to help you make a smooth transition into the College,
we require all incoming students to undergo a 2-part orientation
to the College All newly admitted undergraduate students will
receive a Baruch Electronic Orientation CD-ROM once they have
returned their Admission Response Form to the College indicating
that they will be attending the College. After viewing the
CD-ROM all incoming students are then required to attend a
brief on-site advisement and registration orientation, "Making
the Baruch Connection." <
