Transfer Evaluation

How will I find out the courses for which I will get placement or transfer credit?

At Orientation an Academic advisor will review a preliminary evaluation of transfer credits for you. In some cases you will receive your completed official transfer evaluation.

Is the worksheet the same as a preliminary evaluation?

The Academic worksheet is prepared by an Academic advisor to inform you of everything you need to complete your degree. The Academic advisor will meet with you for a 30-minute appointment to discuss required courses, major courses, electives and a minor.

When I receive my official evaluation what do I do?

You will receive the official evaluation in the mail in one to two semesters. It will provide a course-by-course breakdown of the courses for which you have been given credit. Upon receipt of the official evaluation, call or come to the Center for Academic Advisement and schedule an appointment to have an Academic worksheet done.

 Who prepares the official evaluation?

Transfer credit evaluators located in the Transfer Center and in the Office of Admissions complete your evaluation. They are located at 151 E 25th street, Room - 725.

I want to check the status of my transfer evaluation. Where do I go?

Contact a transfer evaluator at the Transfer Center. For more information about transfer evaluations see the Transfer Student questions. Remember that the College requires a minimum of one to two semesters to complete an official evaluation.

What can I do to expedite the official evaluation process?

Provide Baruch with your official transcript(s). We will not begin the evaluation of  our records until we have received all final transcripts. You must request transcripts be sent from all previous colleges to Baruch. Also, you might be required to provide course descriptions and/or syllabi in order to facilitate completion of your evaluation.

If my official evaluation has not been completed can I still meet with an academic advisor?

Yes. You may see an Academic advisor for general information and for answers to questions about the preliminary evaluation and your program planning sheet on a walk-in basis. Be sure to bring the preliminary evaluation with you and the program planning sheet that was given to you during the transfer orientation.
