The name "17 Lex" refers to the site where the Free Academy, the first free public institution of higher educated in the nation, once stood. It is also the campus building on the corner of 23rd Street through whose doors every past, present and future Baruchian passes.
Our members are philanthropic leaders whose generosity sets an example for others. We believe in the power of public higher education and want to play a leadership role in ensuring the promise of an excellent yet affordable education remains for future generations.
The 17 Lex Society honors this history and recognizes donors who give $1,000 or more annually to The Baruch College Fund. Society members are invited to an annulal reception with President Waldron and are listed on the Baruch Honor Roll.
