Admissions

The MS Program in Financial Engineering at Baruch College enrolled its first cohort of students in September 2002. You can find information and statistical data regarding the admission process in our program, both in terms of acceptance numbers and in terms of the background of the applicants admitted to the Financial Engineering Program.

Acceptance and Enrollment Rates for the Financial Engineering MS Program

The admission requirements were increased for Fall 2007 admission. All applicants are required to have completed two semesters of calculus, one semester of linear algebra, one semester of probability, know C++ at the level of one undergraduate class, and have knowledge of finance, either by having completed one undergraduate class or from work experience.

The standard for admission is the same for applications for part-time and for full-time study, as well as for applications from international and US-based applicants.

Most importantly, we do not have a target for a certain number of enrolled students every year. This allows us to set a standard for admission before beginning to evaluate the applications, and stand by it until the end of the process. Based on the strength of the applicant pool, we were able to significantly increase the admission standard every year.
